Bridges on the Uchikawa area

The Uchikawa area in Imizu City, Toyama Prefecture, is known as the “Venice of Japan” because of the beautiful townscape that stretches along the river.

And there are more than 10 unique bridges on the Uchikawa.

In this article, I will introduce some of these bridges.

KAGURABASHI

First, let me introduce Kagurabashi Bridge.

The railings of this bridge are inlaid with stained glass.

The light of the morning and evening sun shines through the stained glass, creating a fantastical atmosphere.

It is also called the Rainbow Bridge.

SANNOBASHI

Next, I would like to introduce Sannobashi.

A bridge with four marble sculptures in the shape of hands.

AZUMABASHI

Next is Azumabashi.

This is a covered pedestrian bridge.

Its bright red color is distinctive.

At night, the rest areas on both sides of the bridge are lit up, creating large floating lanterns.

SHINNISHIBASHI

Next is Shinnishibashi.

A bridge full of modern sensibilities, with a combination of metal and concrete.

From this bridge you can see the fishing boats and enjoy a beautiful view.

SHINMINATO OHASHI

Finally, there is Shinminato Ohashi.

It is one of the largest cable-stayed bridges on the Sea of ​​Japan side.

On a clear day, you can enjoy a spectacular view of the Sea of ​​Japan, the Tateyama mountain range, and the Noto Peninsula from the bridge.

From the adjacent Kaiwomaru Park, you can enjoy views of the permanently moored sailing ship Kaiwomaru and Shinminato Bridge.
